What initially started as a proposal for a kitchen and living room, became a full interior design project of this log-house, the building next to it and the spaces located on the underground level that connect the two residential buildings.

We started our work when the construction company had already realized the underground level and while they were building the architecture of the two houses.  

The construction system of a log house is absolutely not flexible and doesn’t allow radical changes in time of realization. Therefore, we had to adapt our project into the spaces that had been planned earlier by another architecture studio.

Furthermore, the clients, a retired Muslim couple, requested us to develop our design project according to the Islamic principles related to the organization and orientations of spaces and furniture inside the house.

Fascinated by the natural monumentality of the timber structure, we chose to avoid hiding it wherever it was technically possible and to pair it only with natural and haptic materials like stone, wood, plaster and rough metal.

On the ground floor there are located the living area, where the couple can share comfortably daily and special moments with the numerous members of their family, an intimate prayer room, and two separate private zones for the husband and the wife that include: a bedroom, a studio, a bathroom and a walk-in closet. On the first floor, overlooking the living room, there is a wide open space for the grandchildren, it hosts a big table for studying or playing and a relax zone. There are also two cozy bedrooms, one for kids and one for guests on this floor.

The interiors are conceived as an archipelago of domestic oases, each one with its own peculiarity (materials, colors, atmosphere) but all surrounded and connected by a sea of peacefulness.
